Mental health – A universal Human Right!

World health Organization (WHO ) defines health as “ a state of physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”

On the 14th of October 2023, a session was organised by the SNDT Women’s University’s UNICEF Maharashtra for the students of std 8th on ‘Metal Well Being’.
The students were made aware of how physical health and mental health are closely associated. They were told about how mental disorders also affect a person’s health behaviour like eating sensibly, regular exercise, adequate sleep etc and how there’s a Stigma associated with mental illness. The students were also educated about how the patients are discriminated in the society in all aspects like education, employment, etc which leads to delay in seeking medical advice.
It was a wonderful learning session for the students.
